  Keeping herps seems to be the largest theme of this book. Anyway, the chapter begins with introduction of rare spieces, and each chapter for turtles, snakes, saurians and amphibians consists of color photo section and keeping manual section.
  飼育を主眼に置いた書であるが、希少種の紹介もあり、 各章(カメ、ヘビ、トカゲ、両生類)はカラー写真と飼育の方法から 成っている。

This is the most popular among the general elementary school pupil who trys to begin keeping turtles or captured frogs and lizards. The descriptions are for childs but enough useful for adults who loves Japanese popular spp. (but even not enough for igs breeder; no description about artificial environment maker, for example, true lights and thermostats). Wild life description and breeding manual is for half & half. Many real illustrations but a little photos, without Latin name. 日本でカメを飼い始めようとか捕まえたカエルやトカゲを飼い始めようとか いう小学生にはおそらくもっともポピュラーな一冊。 書き方は小学生向けであるが、日本の普通種の愛好家であれば 大人でも十分役立つ(ただし人工環境(トゥルーライトやサーモスタットなど) の記述は一切なく、イグアナすら飼うためには不十分ではある)。 生態と飼育書が半々である。 たくさんのリアルなイラストが掲載されているが写真はあまりなく、 学名は付いていない。

  Photos of all of the Japanese Reptiles and Amphibians (including rare spp.) are available. The author has been working around Japanese field and descriptions of the pictures are exact. Especially slight differences between similer spp. are described with illustrations. Only the regretful thing is that Latin name of each sp. is not shown.

  日本産の両生・爬虫類のすべての種について写真が掲載 されている。著者は日本のフィールドで長年、研究してきており、 写真の解説は微細に渡っている。特に、似たような種の違いについて イラストで解説されている。 残念なのは学名の記述がないことである。

  In the above two books, section is build not for each species but for each theme; habits and habitats, reproduction, food, etc. Many rare pictures are included and best for herp lovers to know their wildlifes.

  A famous and only herp veternary Dr. Nomura's story. The author diagnoses/operates not only herps but also mammals and all kind of animals; he also lives with some dozens of kinds of animals including rare species in private. This story warns about a danger that human beings becomes not to think about other species and becomes selfish with man jokes and humor.

  有名な爬虫類獣医である野村先生の物語風の著書。 野村先生は爬虫類のみならず哺乳類やあらゆる動物の診察に長けているが、 自分でも希少動物を含む数十種類の動物と暮らしている。 本書は人間が他の種のことを考えず、自己中心的に暮らしていることに ついて警告しているが、ユーモアと冗談が満載の楽しい本である。
